Well went to No Problem again last night.

Got only two runs in, it was quite busy and at 8 o clock they started the Gambler's Race, which I wasn't going to do, so I got only two runs in between 6:30 and 8 pm when the Gamblers race started.

Both runs in 2WD
First run I launched a bit too hard and spun a decent amount off the line.
Resulted in a
15.517 @ 91.01

Then after 45 minutes of cool down I decided I'd give it another go.
DA was like -700

Did a nice tire warm up and was ready to go.

Absolutely nailed the launch.
60 foot time was 2.076

from a Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 in 2WD mode on the stock street tires!!!

I knew this was going to be a sweet run that beat my last weeks time of
14.798 @ 92.00
on that run my 60 foot was 2.129 and the DA was like 200 feet.

BUT, then third gear for some reason or another decided to short shift.
I didn't see the rpms that it was at, but it shifted to third and a split second later
it shifted again and there was a stumble and drop in power.
So my time was
15.087 @ 89.33

I'm confident that without that short shift I'd of been high 14.6's @ 92+ mph
out of a this tank of a truck. btw, this short shifting isn't new to me, i've had other cars (including both my BMW 335i's that would occasionally do that, it's just a shame it happened on the best run this truck would of made. 2.0 60 foot time on a truck of this size and weight in pure stock mode is pretty insane)

All runs were with the truck in full auto mode, 2WD, traction control off with a bit of brake torque launching. Mirrors were out and tailgate was on and in the up position.
This truck has the 8 speed auto and 3.55 gears.

Pretty amazing, in the 80's I had an 73 F-150 LB with a 428CJ and C6 out of a 69 Torino Cobra. 14.62@ 97 mph in about a 3700lb truck with a 3.25 open dif, these new HEMI's do make some power.

My 2014 replacement to this 2013 Laramie comes in next week.
Everything is the same, optioned the same, except the 2014 has the 3.92 gears instead of the 3.55's as the 3.55's aren't offered on almost all 2014 Ram's with the Hemi.

So now I'll have to go for 14.6's @ 92+ mph in the 3.92 geared tank. LOL

You didn't miss much to be honest.
I'm from Los Angeles and one of the things I've learned here is at least at No Problem, it's all about American muscle cars.
In Los Angeles, you'd see everything, European (BMW, Mercs, Porsche, etc) to Asian, to American Muscle, to even the occasional exotic.
Here if you want to see lots of Camaros and Mustangs and Corvettes along with the supped up 60's and 70's Hot Rods, No Problem is the place for you.
But if you want to watch a variety of everything, it doesn't seem to exist in Louisiana, at least not at No Problem.
Not that there is anything wrong with Mustangs (I've owned 3 myself), Camaros and Corvettes, but it gets old seeing them over and over and over again in each of the 5-6 times I've been to No Problem

Yea i hear you on that the most exotic car ive seen there was a Porsche Cheyenne turbo S that was running low 13s consistently.

So what made you switch from a 2013 8-speed to a 2014 8-speed? I keep my trucks at least 5 years but to switch so soon when you already had a newer 2013 8-speed seems kind of odd?

I have a 2013 Express 6-speed and my best run was a 14.60@96.xxmph but the first time I ever ran it, it ran 14.9@92mph.

Your times are really good for a much heavier truck than I have.

My 2013 had paint issues, several areas of overspray, scuff marks, and even two areas I found that the factory used touch up paint to "fix".
Chrysler wanted to repaint the truck at an aftermarket place as the "fix" to my complaint. I said absolutely not. Get me a new truck or be contacted by my lawyer team.
They wisely decided to get me a 2014 as a direct replacement swap and no cost to me.

And thanks. I have drag raced for years, but never a truck.
So getting a 14.78 @ 92 mph in a heavy Crew Cab 4x4 Laramie with 3.55 gears was pretty impressive considering the times I've seen in magazines.
But I know I would of had high 14.6's on that one run had the tranny not short shifted 3rd gear and drop rpms probably 1000 rpms less than it should of been.
So if temps are the same and track prep is good and the shorter 3.92 gears don't make it harder to launch without spinning too much, I should be able to get mid 14.6's @ 92+ mph in the 2014
But if launching is more difficult without traction, Im sure I can match my high 14.7's but probably be at a trap speed of 93 mph.

I have also exhaustively tested rolling run times for various speeds in my 2013, and when the 2014 is broken in with at least 1000 miles, I'll do it on the same road in the same direction with the 2014 and see if the 3.92 gears drop those rolling run times a bit too.
