Default When to do first wax?

Have a new 2014. With winter coming I have been thinking about getting a coat of wax on it. How soon is it necessary to wax a new car? Thanks

IMHO---ASAP, wash, clay bar, polish, seal and then wax. It will be well protected for the winter and it will look good also. Check the info in this section about detailed advice on products and DYI tips to accomplish the above suggestions. Primo or Luke are two members that give great advice and Primo loves to spend your money on detailer supplies---(excellent supplies I might add)

Thanks Jay, I was chomping at the bit yesterday, bought a Griots kit with clay, orbital, polish and wax. Surprised I would have to clay a new car though?

Agree, no reason to wait, especially with winter on it's way. When I did my new truck for the first time it was a couple months before I was able to get to it. I gave it a good wash, clayed it and then waxed it. I did not see the need to polish it as there were no scratches, swirls etc. Some people question claying a new vehicle, but it is well worth it.

No stupid questions here! We are here to help one another. The clay bar is used with a lubricant to remove contaminants from your paint. Plenty of great info in this section about the use thereof. Scroll down, or just do a search. Much of this can seem overwhelming at first. Do your research, and if you have any questions, we will be here to answer them and help you along!

6 years is a good mark. Kidding I'm sure the paint has already cured by the time you got it. All I know is wax my truck one a month.
