Guys & Gals (if any),

Bought this old plow truck $2k. Seller says Tranny was rebuilt and sure enough it is shiney underneith there . I drove it home about 175 miles and seemed to shift OK but the ((Shift linkage was a little sloppy and the Orange Tab in the little windows did not line up exactly)). You know... old truck syndrom

Being a good newbie here I been searching my butt off here. I found some linkage diagrams and procedures and was going to attempt to tighen the linkage......... However another GREMLIN popped up!!!

GREMLIN = Start truck is AOK (RPM between 800 and 1200 tempature dependant) then the Column shift lever is STUCK in PARK. This has occured twice on LEVEL GROUND.

1st fix was to turn on and off nearly 7 or 8 times when it released into the gears.

2nd fix was (fix #1 did not work this time) I tried to pulling the connector of the Column Brake Switch Module, that did not work. I had to get my other vehical and JERK the truck backwards and then the PARK did release WHEEEW. (I now leave the truck in Nuetral with plow down so I do not have to place in PARK (temporarly))

SO now I drove it to Tranny shop where the guy will sepearte the Tranny from the linkage and feel it by hand and call me.

Seen some different year models that have a switch or remove plug and stick in screw-driver to over-ride the PARK BRAKE SWITCH, however I see no such park brake switch over-ride on this 2000??? Is there such a thing on this truck??? Found nothing in Owners Manual either.

One last clue based on some readings here. The "Backup Lights" are not working (Have not checked to see if the bulbs are burned out yet. I see some wires where they might have added a Reverse Head-LAMP in the past (unknown). Something was posted about a switch on the external of tranny that acted as a relay for that. Would this have anything to do with the PARK-BRAKE-Circut???

I have parked it like 6 times and STICKS in PARK twice so far.

Wosrt case is this OFF THE ROAD plow-truck has to site in driveway all winter in NUEATRAL, but the downside is I have to leave the KEY in it.

Eagerly awaiting for some ideas here.

update: Possible fix. Now I have to get to Tranny Shop to see if this my issue. Like the guy in video said "not selanoid / electrical related it is mechanical stop slide lever related" FINGERS CROSSED

PURELY PHYSICAL BLOCKING LEVER ON A SLIDER WORN OUT.
