Okay...I think I may have stumbled across something on this POS by mistake.

Was scanning and clearing it again for the 100th time...and happened to notice something. When I rev it cold, the CEL will go off. Sometimes. That I already knew. Then I tried the headlights, voltage dropped. Bing the light came on. Tried watching the ammeter and noticed that there's a fluctuation in the voltage. Revved it a couple times with the lights on...nothing. Turned the lights off...light went off.

Pulled the neg on the battery, truck revved up, light came on, truck stalled. Needless to say, the light went off.

Starting to think that the system voltage as a whole has a specific impact on the 327/328 code and that since it's a signal for low voltage it doesn't necessarily mean that there's a short in the harness somewhere, but that when the entire system has a drop in voltage it's enough to trigger a low voltage code to the EGR position sensor.

Guess I'm gonna try a new alt and see what happens.

Replaced the voltage regulator. Runs better, but still a no-go. This thing wouldn't last the length of a derby, wow that's a great idea! I'm glad I thought of it. Some help you guys are.

I just don't want you guys takin' the credit for MY idea just because I didn't think of it first.

On a lighter note (your name here) the best thing about owning a Ram is that I have a dependable vehicle to go to the auto parts store to pick up parts for the Ford.

Hey your truck, your idea, your credit. We are all but just small whispers in the back of your mind trying to pursue you into those ideas. It would outlast a guy I know. Spend 4500 on fully done up derby ready crown vic 2 years ago, 1200 a year to store it because he had no tow to the derby as his dad wouldn't let HIM use his OWN gmc .. Finally got to his first derby and lasted 10 seconds and turned the car off after 10 seconds after his front fender got knocked in and he couldn't turn left without rubbing

Have you replaced the alternator in it yet?.. So the whole system itself just drops in power and not any specific area.. Electrical is the biggest pain in the ass.

Drove my 96 Ram for years with the check engine light on. Ran like a top. Just put a dash plaque in front of it so I didn't have to look at it. Some things will just reveal themselves in time if your just a little patient. When I was buying Fords it seemed just when I fixed something, than something else would go. So when something went wrong that I could live with I just drove the dam thing. I would think to myself, how come everything on this POS breakes but the f&^*^ng CEL won't burn out!
