Smile Balance & Rotate

Just curious as to when you should balance and rotate your wheels? I have been told every 6000 miles. On my car I get free balance and rotate but I don't have that on my truck. I now have over 8500 miles on my truck, I don't see or feel any problems but I am more curious than anything else if the same logic holds true on trucks.

Generally speaking its a rule that applies to all vehicles. Even though you don't feel or see any problems the tires will wear unevenly. If you ride on them for a long time without rotating you may get large lumps in them. You will sure feel the vibration then!

I have the lifetime rotation, balance, and road hazard contract from discount tire so I do it every 6000 or every oil change, whichever comes first. It was about $150, but I could get them rotated and balanced every day if I wanted, and it will pay for itself in after 1 flat.

I bought my tires & wheels through Discount Tire & i also get rotations when i take it in
They do the same if you just buy your tires though them, also they fix flats for free
They are also called American Tire in some states

Pep Boys fixes flats for free also, i go there when i have a soft tire on Sundays

What i like about Discount/American Tire stores is that they all have a Hunter Road Force Balance Machine & they actually are trained to use it
unlike the Dodge Dealership, although they do have the same machine, no one knows how to use it, mostly because a Tech is not used, they use the Go For guy or the Janitor

Forgot to mention, I have the factory tires. You can buy the tire contract for the stock tires, and I don't think it matters how many miles you have on them. I'm not sure though because my truck was at 507 miles when I bought the contract.

Good advise on the tire rotation, it will extend the life of your tires. Also a good idea to get a tire road hazard warranty. I did that with my wife car and my truck. Already had to replace two tires on wife's car (not at the same time) cost me $140 for both tiers. It cost me $60 for the warranty. If I had not had the warranty it would have cost me $500+ for both tires.

Did you get that contract at Ancira? The wifey and I are taking both our rides tomorrow for some minor warranty issues, might talk to them about that. Mine are about due for rotation and the wife's is past due!

No, I got the contract at Discount Tire. I did have Ancira change my oil on Tuesday though.

Also, when I was there getting my rotation/balance done I checked the invoice that they emailed me, and noticed that they had the spec for my tires at 35 PSI, whereas my door jamb says 39. I think this is a change beginning with the 2013 model year because my dad's '09 says 35 on the door jamb. Anyway, I told one of the employees and they checked and filled them to 39 instead of 35 for me. So those of you with '13+ trucks make sure they fill them properly.
