I just instl 2 of these in the wifes and my trucks, along with the upper glovebox door assy. took 1hr for wifes for both instl, filter door cover was a bitch to get latched, mine i cut out with zip tool and was lot faster, cover just snaped into place on it, about 30min for both instl on my truck. Went with blk on both from AllMoparParts
Filter kits 23.43 ea
Blk Glovebox assy and hardware 83.23 ea

I used the Purolator myself. the writings on the opposite side you need to insert into the opening, but all is good. went in ok. the latch on the door did not work well until I had it really pushed closed.

I cannot believe that dodge did not make this factory!! its all there, so why not make this stock?????

I remember when I had a titan. Nissan used 2 small filters and the cost was double! and you stacked them up??

cheers for telling us about this!
Chris

Will this mod work with a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD Laramie?
If so, what is currently best recommended parts list and vendor to purchase/order from? :-)
Thanks!

Just finished this mod on my '14, and I've gotta say it was a b*tch! I tried using a utility knife at first, but I just could not get enough force behind it, so I ended up using a Dremel to cut and then sand the edges. It took me a couple of hours. Removing the fan was necessary, as quite a bit of melted plastic from the Dremel would have fallen into it anyway. I used the Wix filter, so the writing for air flow direction is on the left side instead of the front as pictured, but it slid in without issue. The door slides on and sits flush with the box, however the snaps on the sides do not lock into place. I'm not too worried about it as I don't expect it to slide off or anything, but I don't know why it won't snap.

Aside from my difficulties, this write-up is great. Thanks OP!

Don't worry, the snaps didn't snap in as I did the mod on my '12, but it never was a problem. I changed the filter a year after I did the mod an the door was still perfectly in place. So the missing snap noise is nothing I worry about.

I did get mine to snap, but I really had to clean up the cut edge to make sure no little pieces of plastic were holding the door out just a little bit, then I really had to push on the latches on the ends to get it to snap. I'm part of the Murphy club on this one as it took an hour or so, but glad I did it in the end! Thanks for the work on the procedure!

Mike
