HELP PLEASE...I changed out my alternator about 5 weeks ago and all my issues went away...until last night! my volt gauge is jumping up to about 16 when my lights and blinker are on but go to normal (mostly) while im driving...the amps drop to 10 when im at a stoplight...what the h*** bro!! does anyone know what it might be...i start auto mechs in school january but until then i need HELP...what should i do first? I'm thinking-and tell me if i am wrong so I know-that it seems to be maybe the voltage regulator or ?? but since that is in the alternator and that is new what else could it be...i did put a 90 amp alterator in-was that wrong? does it need a 120? is there anything you can tell me...i will appreciate anything you can tell me to help me...oh and beware LOL i love my truck but im poor so i will be asking for help all the time...hope i dont get on yer last nerve...

We don't have last nerves here, Shadow, only patience and advice.
It definitely sounds like your voltage regulator. Most places sell re-manufactured alternators these days, so it's possible that you got a bad one. If you do replace it, go with the 120 amp alternator. They are bigger and tougher. Good luck at tech school. Keep us posted and let us know if you need anything else.
