Default Recommended Tune up (newbster)

I recently bought a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Tow Package from my dad, and i like my truck a lot. I've been wanting to do a tune up on it, but i'm not sure what is recommended for spark plugs, wires, etc.. i'd like for it keep purring like a lion.
Thanks

I'd just go to NAPA or another autoparts store for the plugs. I know Champion coppers work great for the hemis, so probably a good bet. Pretty hard to beat Mopar for trans and differential lube. Probably original Mopar wires, my RT Magnum hemi has almost 300,000 miles, all original wires, coils, water pump, power steering pump, the belts look good when I replace with Mopar ones every 100,000 miles. Even the brakes, the Mopar stuff lasts almost forever, aftermarket stuff made in China will let you down. Half the trouble people have with their Ram's is aftermarket crap from China.

Tuneup -- Napa is recommended for all the stuff. But you can also obtain oline stuff if desired.

Basic copper plugs are what these Magnum engine like. There is no need for the platinum stuff. Champion and Autolites work well.

Get a Rotor, Cap with brass tabs, and 8mm plug wires. Taylor is a common and decent brand.

The Coil typically does NOT need replacing unless you show it to not work well. They are pretty robust from the factory actually.

I'd also add the following while you're at it:

New PCV valve. Only get this from the dealer as the spring in the them has factory tolerances. Cost is ~$10

Clean the Throttle Body up. Disconnect sensors and remove entirely.

Here are some of the things you can do things to do:

E3 Diamond Fire Plugs
MSD Cap and Rotor
MSD Coil & Adapter
MSD Plug Wires
New Tensioner Pully
New Serpintine Belt
Synthetic 0W30 Oil Change with High quality filter( I recommend Royal P, gets finer impurities)
Synthetic Diff Oil Change
Synthetic Transfercase Oil Change
Synthetic Tranny Oil Change, if automatic a good filter
Add Lucas oil stabilizer to all oiling systems
Full Chassis Greasing with R.P. or Lucas RednTacky
PCV and Crankcase breather
Flush cooling system
Proper Tire Pressure
Run Lucas injector cleaner with gas (double up first tank, then the 3oz per 10gal the rest of the bottle)
Take the throttle body off and clean it so its not all gunked up.

This is just what I do, especially with a new to me vehicle. This is stuff I have also found(I know it seems like alot) that will help with MPG's(which everyone wants, unless your rich). To keep the truck ticking, just keep up on routine maintenance and put quality things in it like a good Mobil 1 or Royal purple synthetic oil, good spark items and the right oil in you diffs, Tranny and Tcase.
If nothing else, Change all oils, Plugs wires cap and rotor, Grease the chassis, PCV valve, and Lucas Injector cleaner
And You dont have to buy Mopar to get good American stuff, get on Jegs(then surf the net because they price match with free shipping, I buy everything even oil from them) and get Quality price without having to pay dealer prices.
