Default Stereo upgrade

I've got a 97 Ram 4X4. I would like to upgrade the radio, but I do not like the aftermarket radios. I want one with an AUX input for my iPod. Can I install a radio from a newer model Ram? One that has the AUX input. I want it to look as stock as possible.

I am not sure, but you might measure a radio from another Ram, up to & including the 2008 model Ram, anything newer then that will not work in your Ram

you can do some research by going to this website & then shop around for the best prices
http://oemautopartsco.com/

looks like the website only goes back to 2002, but you may be able to use it as a reference

it looks like right around 2002 is when Chrysler radios started using a cd player
the radios mount positions also changed around that time

I see you live in the general Oceanside area
you may want to hit a couple of the wrecking yards up there, or drive down to Otay Mesa road by the Brown Field airport, there are about 30 wrecking yards there & even more near there on Main St. & Nirvana in Chula Vista
Ecology i believe still has 1/2 prices on rain days & the day after

there is one other place that you might check, be prepared to have your ear filled with information the old guy likes to talk
Down by the Spring Valley Swap Meet, there is a Chrysler only wrecking yard, it is at 6301 Quarry Road, Spring Valley, CA at the old railroad xing. it is called SWEETWATER AUTO WRECKING, you should see a Dodge Ram or 2 out in front

Google it

Good Luck
