Default 46re Master solenoid service kit

As promised, heres the beginning of my review thread..

I ordered a Borg Warner master solenoid service kit from Cascade Transmission Parts in Monmouth Oregon after a brief conversation with the Owner, Robert. My questions were basically to determine the benefits to the heavy duty kit I was looking at versus a standard kit. Robert explained quite helpfully that the difference lies in the 3-4 spring, which is made of heavier gauge wire and less prone to breakage than the stock unit.

Having had my questions answered I placed my order day before yesterday. My kit arrived today and I couldn't be happier with it
This is what I received. It was well packaged and included all the described parts.
Part Number:22420AKP 199.98
FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING (yay)

What was the purpose of the "Master Solenoid Service Kit"?

There are two reasons the OEM's don't put drain plugs in trans pans:

1. Make you change the filter! If you didn't pull the pan, you'd never change the filter!

2. Cost.

What I can't figure is why they don't put spin-on filters on these things. My ex-wife's Mitsubishi Galant had a spin-on, right on the top of the trans.
