I was going to go wheeling one time, driving down a road that I had driven down a hundred times before. There was fresh snow fall and now one had been up there yet. I got to busy jaw jacking and not paying enough attention to the road. I just happened to look out my driver side window and saw a stump... Hmmm I thought to my self, ther is a reason I alway drive to the left of the stump even though the road goes to the right. Just then I remembered, but it was too late. I hit Jeep Swaller Hole. A mud pit that in the summer time leaves the best mudbogger stranded. And here I heat it in the middle of the night, and dead of winter.

Luckly I was only about three miles from, but only a mile or so from my one of my friends houses that always was looking for an excuse to run his truck.. We spent the rest of the night pullin out my 60 Jeep station Wagon.

Now let me tell ya all something about my Jeep. I had built it to go off roading with, dana 60 axles, 12 inch suspension lift, and 44" mud Boggers. Possi Front and rear, and a blown 454.. this thing was an animal, but doesn't matter how big of a truck you got, when you go through a mud hole that has no bottom, and is a 1/4 mile long.

I had water and mud coming in my window seals, oozing through rust holes, and every where else water shouldn't be. When my friend and I got back to my Jeep to tow it out, the only thing visible was the rear lift gate.

I was lucky however, once I swam/waded out there with the recovery chains, Tow Straps, and winch cables, we were able to slowly drag her back out. Once we got it back about 500 yards, I was able to crawl back in and fire it up. I was smart enough once I realized where I was, I just shut off the Jeep knowing that water would get into the engine if I was't careful. also, it helped that I completely waterproofed the engine, and had all my vents running up into my head liner.

Nah nothin new besides State Farm telling us it's totaled . So my dad is going back and forth with the adjustor so for the time being I'm just sitting tight. Probably not ever going to get the truck back so lately I have been trolling craigslist and autotrader for something. Possibly a 4 door tacoma which we were looking at even before this happened, maybe a f250 diesel (7.3) but that's probably unrealistic lol. I even found a 2004 F150 Lariat crew cab for $9.5k but it has 145k miles on it even though the thing looks brand spanking new in pictures (20" fuel wheels, leather, the works). Might try and talk my dad into taking a look at it later this week. I'll keep u guys posted on what goes down, it just really blows not having a truck cause we can't do anything without the bed.

$5k less for 30k more miles? I'd go with the Ford provided it checks out in person. Well actually I'd keep looking for a Dodge, but given the 2 options you presented I'd pick the Ford.

The only bad thing is that I have such little knowledge on ford trucks I don't know what starts to go bad and at what mileage. I hear the triton is a fairly reliable engine, but it's only 3:15 am lol so that means Ill dive into the ford forums (pray for me) haha

I WAS a Die hard Ford Truck owner, I have owned over a dozen in the past 10 years. Years ranging from 1987-2008. All of them were the worst money pits I have ever owned. I would take a totaled out Jeep Cherokee over a Ford Truck any day of the week. I bought my first Dodge truck in 2011, as a daily driver beater truck to get me through a a short period of time where I was going to be with any transportation. My my budget was 1500 bucks or less and wasn't picky as long as it was 4 wheel drive. My wife found a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with more holes in it than a slice of swiss cheese, but it started up with barely a bump of the ignition switch, and the heater roasted her out in only a few minutes. So she handed the guy the dough and called it good. I dove that truck from April of 2012, until April of 2013, only put a set of brake lines and a power steering line into it. I still have the truck, and it still starts and runs like the day we brought her home. I even loaded it up with all my belongings and drove it from the east coast to the west coast with out a hickup. My last Ford Truck (a 2008 1500 Lariat) left me stranded with out a load in Colorado on my way from Austin, Texas to Syracuse, NY. The one before that left me stranded in the midle of bumhump Texas some where between El Paso and Austin. The longest I have ever owned any of my trucks before the Dodge was about a year. All of my Fords ended their lives in the scrap yard.

My point... Don't buy a Ford. Also I notice you are wanting to spend 10-15K on another truck, but you aren't willing to pay 3000 for a new engine and tranny. man wish I were rich like that.

First off the State Farm totaled the car and told us we can't rebuild the title because of the extensive water damage. Second, if we were rich I woul be rolling coal in a 2500 and not sharing 2 cars between my sister, mom, dad and myself. You best check yo'self before you wreck yo'self.
