Default Whinning noise

Got a whining noise coming from under the truck. I have a 02 ram 1500 4x4.
It really only happens when you give it gas to go. When you let off the gas it quiet downs. Have no clue. Any thoughts?

I had a whining noise in my truck too. Then I divorced her. Thank you. Thank you. I'm here all week.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Seriously, like huntergreen said.

In gear, in park, or in neutral? Trans fluid checked with parking brake on, and trans in neutral? Mine made a noise like that, shortly before death.

Have not checked belt or pullies. Yes checked trans oil in neutral. To be more clear the noise only comes when driving the truck. Sorry for the missing info. When in 4wd I can hear the fork in the transfer case making a noise so I know it probably needs to be rebuilt. It does have 200,000+ miles on it.

200000 miles ? at this point , unless the truck is very clean and sharp looking, you might want to consider upgrading.

I tend to agree with LT. It has been my experience that when the pump in the transmission is on it's way out it whines, especially when cold. I had this problem on my P71 interceptor and added Lucas Transmission stabilizer (to the third transmission) and it lasted another 2 years.
