Default Question About Diablo Trinity and Warranty

I know I made mention of this in another thread, I figured it would be easier to start one specifically to ask about this.

Anyways, my question is when I take my Ram in for service/warranty, will the dealer be able to tell that I have had the tuner in there to modify the vehicle and void my warranty?

To put it simply and the way you should look at it yes they will be able to tell.

If you modify the vehicle and they can prove that your modification caused that failure they have every right to void your warranty.

My take on this is if you are going to run a tuner or do any mods, then you should consider your warranty at risk because you modified the original product.

You must have the stock tune loaded back into your truck for the warranty servicing I think. I don't think they can tell if you have had a programmer in your truck if it is back at stock tune. I believe there have been many members who have run a tuner while still under warranty. Plus it has to be proven that the tuner caused the issue

Which is exactly why you should likely just think "worst case scenario".

I am friends with a Ford tech. As of 2011 MY, they had the tools to track this. He showed me how stupidly easy it is. So, on the Fords for sure, they can track it easily. It doesn't alert them when they connect it, he has to dig a bit, but for warranty purposes- many of their TSBs specifically state to look for aftermarket programming before performing any repair once the initial diagnosis is made.

That makes sense, I would imagine that Chrysler would have the exact same tools to do so.

Of course they can tell. Timestamps, checksums, logs, etc.. So much technology on these trucks, they'll be able to tell real quick if you've been mucking around with it. If you throw a rod, you can be damn sure they're going to see if your computer has been changed at all. You can scream Magnusson-Moss Act all you want, but they have more money for litigation than you do.

Yep even after removal of any tuner it leaves what they call (foot print) so it's hard to get around, on gas vehicles the dealer will over look it, since it dosen't add enough HP to cause damage, unlike a diesel thats adding 100 to 300 HP...
