Default Muffler or Cutout?

I think I've searched around enough on here to come to the conclusion that there's no power to be gotten from putting in a free flowing muffler. If that's the case, is there any reason not to go with a cutout over a muffler? I want to get that Hemi sound, and I'd be fine with a muffler but I do like the idea of being able to turn it off when I want to. Looking around, the cutout from Doug's looks pretty impressive. As an engineer, I think the "sliding plate" design will work better and hold up better than the butterfly designs.

i was interested in a cutout but after reading around a bit i saw people had rattling and operating issues later. i wasn't interested any more for reliability sake.
