Unhappy Loss of engine power at higher RPM

I have a 1997 RAM 1500 extended cab with a 5.2L gas engine.
Low RPM engine power is fine but there is no power at anything above about 2100 rpm. Scan reports multiple cylinder misfire and a catalytic conv error. I am using 89 octane fuel.

I replaced the wire from the coil to the distributer, it was cracked and burned where it had come in contact with the exhaust manifold, that helped.
I replaced the spark plugs, that helped some more.
I replaced the cap and rotor, again - it helped some.
I replaced the coil, no change.

It takes me about a mile to get up to 60mph and I can't maintain much more than 50mph on gentle upgrades. If the transmission downshifts I lose speed.

The engine is not running hot.
There is no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant.
pcv valve and air filter are new and there is about 1000 miles on the oil.

Any suggestions what I should do next?

Joe

Suggestions:
1. Post this in 2nd Gen where it belongs.
2. From what you said, your scan has already suggested a cat problem. May be choked off. Also, the truck is running hot. If coolant system is good, it may be due to a sensor issue, MAP or O2 sensors causing over-rich condition, or a bad plenum gasket causing a lean-run condition. Either could cause damage (melting) to the cat, restricting flow. It could be any of this, it's probably all of it to some degree.

Sorry about posting in the wrong section. I though I was in Gen-2 but apparently I was wrong.
A new Catalytic Converter and the truck runs like new. Thanks!
