Default Rear window defrogger install

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of installing a rear window defogger on my 2013 reg cab 1500. (I went with frostfighters universal truck kit. I haven't used it yet, so I am not endorsing it). I have already installed the heating elements and buss bars on the window.

Since you guys like pictures, here are the heating elements already installed:

(My windows are currently not tinted. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment to get them tinted.)

Never again will I install one of these. With all the careful triple measuring and trimming it took me about 4-5 hours. I probably took longer then needed but I wanted it perfect, and I am extremely happy with the install.

Anyways, my question is the wiring. I have everything routed out and connected but I need to find "a positive wire that is activated when the ignition switch is turned on". From searching the forums, I read that I can use the passenger side cigarette lighter socket wire. Is this correct and/or is there a better place to tap into "a positive wire that is activated when the ignition switch is turned on"?

Thanks.

Nice install, reps to you for sharing, as for the tap, I would run a wire up to the front and tap into the fuse box, use one of those fuse taps. JMO

Something like this, I have used one for my Air pump, they work well, just need to find the right place to tap where it only provide 12v when the truck is running.

Thanks Asur, the kit does use one of the fused tapped wires. I just need to know which wire to tap into. Since the kit is universal, all the instructions say is to find that 12v wire... I am new to Ram trucks and have no clue which wire from the fuse box to tap into. Sounds dumb, but I don't want to mess anything up.

EDIT: The kit uses a fused wire not a fuse box tap that you linked. I like that fuse box tap, but I don't feel like waiting a week to get it. Local stores only have it supporting up to 10amp, but I need it to support 20 amp. So can I tap into the passenger side cigarette lighter socket?

Default Rear window defogger install

Just to give you guys an update:

I tapped into the cigar lighter socket (drivers side) and the unit powered up with no problems. I haven't driven the truck yet with a fogged up rear window due to my schedule and hot Miami days. But I did have to turn the unit on to test it, and it made the window hot! I can't wait to use it when the window fogs up.

And thanks for the reps Asur.

It's been over a week and I have used this a number of times now. It works flawlessly. I have absolutely no problems. I will post a picture later of where I installed the ON/OFF switch.
