Default Torque Converter Not Seating

I have a 2000 Dodge with a 46RE transmission. I'm completing a rebuild and attempting to get the torque converter (TC) to seat. I've watch A LOT of videos on seating the TC...been spinning, lifting, pushing, clock & counter, etc. Also tried standing the trans upright and spinning the TC. Ive checked the thrust bearing in the OD to ensure it's installed correctly, I've made sure the frictions in the rear/front clutch are not hung up. (I did add an extra friction and steel to both the front & rear clutches) When I place a straight edge (SE) over the bellhousing, my TC bolting lugs are only 1/16" from the SE. When I place the SE over the bell housing with the TC out, it measures 9/16" to the tip of the input shaft. (is that adequate?) How can I get the TC about 1/2" further down in the bellhousing? Any good ideas are much appreciated!!!
