Default cold start engine noise

Today was the second time I heard this noise, at first I thought it was a fluke being that it happened when I started it up during the first cold-snap since I owned her and it didn't happen again after that one time. But, today after work, I got in and started it it sounded like a bad knock it lasts for maybe 5-10 secs or so and then it disappeared. It's almost like piston slap but it doesn't happen all the time. It's really starting to worry me. I just went outside to start her up hoping I could get a recording and nothing. purred like a kitten. Should I worry about it or dismiss it because cold engine = weird noises or should I have the dealer look into it?

the problem is that it RARELY happens. this is the 2nd time with all this cold weather that it has done this so I doubt I could repeat the problem if I took it in

Anything below 25 mine does same thing. Changed to Mobil1 0W20/Royal Purple oil filter. Helps but still makes the gehknock-gehknock-gehknock noise.
I start it up, put it in neutral, turn heat on and let it run for 10mins before I go to work in the morning. Noise is almost gone when I drive away.
Nature of the Hemi beast. Don't really like it, but it is what it is.

I don't believe what the dealer says on that. Anything above 40 mine starts up with no odd/knocking/ticking noise's what so ever. I'm positive mine is the ol'Hemi piston slap.

it would make some sense that it's a lifter not being pumped up all the way on start-up. it only lasts 15-20 secs TOPS and that's stretching it before there's no trace of the sound

The MDS shuts off cylinders 1,4,6,7. I agree if at start up there is ticking and 10sec later noise goes away, its the lifters. I would try a different oil filter. Maybe yours has defective ADBV and not holding oil up in the oil galleys.
