I know that my 2013 Honda Foreman ATV won't fit with the tailgate up, and I would think that a Harley's wheelbase is at least as long as the ATV's.

I don't think so, I kind of looked at the possibilities but decided to invest in a 10 foot single axle motorcycle trailer to tote my Road King Classic. The height of the RAM's bed is up there also, too high for me.

I would find a loading dock
Angle the bike from corner to corner on the truck
Don't let your rear tire sit on the tailgate without some extra support, like 2 sheets of 5/8ths plywood, or something like a long section of channel iron that both tires can be on at once.
Another option would be something like this
http://www.dgmtailgatesupport.com/

don't trust the tailgate cables

wrong way

The videos were interesting, even entertaining. Given that a motorcycle trailer is a fraction of the cost of a Harley Davidson touring bike, I'm glad I invested in the trailer.

a cheap $600 trailer is the best way to go. bike into bed is not for one person, you'd want 3/4 guys. unless you want to try and ride it in but I've seen some bad stuff doing it that way, its never pretty.

I wish I had a Harely to worry about fitting into the back of my truck... Of course I should probably learn how to ride first!

I was just wondering, I bought a new travel trailer (Bumper Pull Type) 30 foot on the hitch, and in checking the various state laws between Texas and Sturgis South Dakota, triple towing (2 Trailers) is perfectly legal. I can have a hitch put on the new trailer however I wanted to look at all alternatives.

And yes the "Ramp the bike into the bed" videos on YouTube are hilarious... I GUESS I BETTER STAY AWAY FROM THAT...!!!
