Did you have your keys with you? If you did it kind of hard to say your vehicle could move from park to drive..IMO

I agree with the above posts like I said in the original post it may be my fault and I don't want to b*tch for no reason. But try it on your trucks. Leave it in gear on level ground and it will roll before you get out not sometime later. Like I said just looking for ideas. If there is a problem and I am not saying there is this is a safety issue. Temp. may have be a factor it was -33c at the time.

Maybe the hill start assist was on when he stepped out, but it wasn't a big enough hill for the truck to roll back, so when it kicked off the truck went forward?

I'm not an expert on the electronic braking systems, but if my understanding is correct, Hill Start Assist (HSA) is only active for a very brief period after you release the brake pedal (not long enough to open the door and get out of the truck), and also I believe HSA is immediately cancelled if you open the driver's door.

So I don't think HSA would be a possible explanation.

I've noticed that my truck jumps a lot more than other cars when I first shift into drive from park. but only in the morning when the idle rpm is higher. Maybe this could contribute to the issue?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess I'm in the market for a new grille. Have to wait till the temp. warms up to cold to be popping plastic clips now Thanks Tux.
