This is why replacing the hoses and flushing new coolant works, it gets rid of the mixed coolant. Just a thougth, if it was a bad bath of hoses it should hit all the trucks manufactured at a certain time, not just randoms here or there.

This is certainly plausible. However, our company bought three of these exact vehicles at the same time. The same dealer prepped these 3 vehicles. Mine is the only one of the 3 that stink.

I have a cabin filter in mine. It doesn't really help.

and it seems some 14s still have the stink, even though they are aware of the issue. you'd think they clean up their act by know, check the casting on the engines, pull the bad hoses off the line, tell the dealer do not top up with the wrong fluid....

Yep, Ram's actions, or lack there of, make no sense. If the issue is known correct it on the production line and then reach out to your customers and fix the existing ones as well. Ram has made great progress in perceived quality, last thing they need is a reputation as a "stinky" truck. Even if it is only one out of every 100 or even 1000, it is still one too many.

I found this site because I was looking into this problem. I have a brand new 2014 with this issue. I was going to wait until the first oil change time and take it in good and hot, let it stink up the service center. If they dont do anything about this..............?

I installed the cabin air filter hoping it would work. I drive the truck for the first time since installation of it tomorrow. We'll see, but it it's anything like Deathwarden5's experience above, then I'll be buying sulfur bombs when I hit the city.

When push comes to shove at the dealership one day, I'll pull a few out and give them a whiff of their own medicine.

Used to love that new car smell. Now it's gone .. LONG gone...

I say we all buy them .. maybe we could have a simultaneous North American flash sulfur mob one day next summer!

I dropped it off at the dealer this morning and the shop manager stated he had "heard" of this issue, but has not had any come in to the shop. He stated they would look in to it and get back to me. I just received a call and I am NOT happy. He read a "starred" bulletin from Dodge that stated there is a reaction between the OAT coolant and the hoses, but at this time there is no repairs authorized until a fix is found. So I asked him if that meant I am supposed to drive around a 45k dollar stink-mobile. He didn't really have an answer and said his hands were tied.

This is ridiculous. I absolutely love this truck too, other than the stench!!

John
Called the dealer again today becuase I just cannot accept an answer of "we are waiting to see what Chrylser does". The service manager says he is going to call his rep to see if there are any updates, but as of now, he cannot authorize any work (change hoses, flush system, etc) because he has no one to bill for the work. I explained to him that I am not happy paying for a 45k truck that after only 4 months and 2900 miles no longer smells new and is rarely driven due to the odor.

We will see what they say, but it seems at some point Dodge would have to own up to whatever it is, even if it is only 1 in 10,000 trucks....or at least I hope.

This thread makes me very nervous, I take delivery today of my 2014 and will be very paraniod until I make it past the first 10k or so miles without a smell. It sucks that Chrysler is playing dumb, eventually this will become a PR nighmare if they do not step up and take care of thier customers. Whether the truck was $10k or $50k it should not be the new owners burden to "deal with" this type of issue. I already warned my delaer and sent him the link to this thread. I have been expressly clear if I do end up with an issue I expect it fixed, no matter if Chrysler "authorizes" it or not.
