Default Lift and tire size ?

Hey all, I have a 1500 Outdoorsman that I'm considering lifting slightly so I can fit the next size tire on it for a little more clearance in the field.

Can anyone tell me how high I'd need to go to fit the next size bigger AT tire on it, what size tire that would be, and if there are any issues associated with lifting?

Thanks

Well what do you consider "the next size bigger". You can fit up to 35's with just a level. 37's with a 6" lift. A 285 is typically the widest you can go on the stock wheels without running spacers.

Take a look at the wheel and tire section of the forum or the lifting section. There's some stickied threads in there with a ton of pictures. Just look through those and you'll get a good idea of what you like and what you don't.

35's sound good, but I'm not familiar with the details of a level, can you elaborate?

Yup, take a look at this ^^ thread. I wrote it specifically for guys like you who are unsure about the details of leveling and sizing. If you have any questions after that post them up and I'll answer the best I can.

Wow, tremendous effort providing all that info, thanks you!

After reading both posts, and at the risk of sounding like a pain in the arse, do you have a similar post relating to a full lift rather than a level job?
For some reason I'm leaning toward a full lift of 3-4" and then fitting the largest possible BFG A/T's that will fit.

Does Bilstien offer a lift kit? If not, what kit would you reccomend?

Thanks for you patience and efforts.

No I haven't done anything for a full lift yet. I've thought about it but it almost gets to the point where there's to many variables to sum up in a thread like that. Leveling is more straight forward and there's more demand for that information.

All the stuff regarding tire width and how much they'll stick out etc will apply to a 4" lift as well. Largest you can go with a 4" lift is a 35 or an oversized 35 like a 325/60/20.

No Bilstein doesn't offer a full lift kit but you can run their shocks with a lift. Lots of guys use the Bilsteins to level out a lift since most of them do not fully level a truck by themselves. For 4" lift kits I'd look at BDS or Zone.
