Default Synthetic or regular?

I have a 2013 big horn. 5.7 Hemi 4x4 crew.
I'm 2 free oil changes in and I have to start paying now.
My service tech at my dealership says synthetic is still recommended to change at the same 5k interval.
Chrysler canada correspondence says to go with my dealerships recommendation. I say BS

I want to switch to synthetic and change my oil every 10k at mr. lube.
Castrol syntec.

It would still be within the minimum 16k required for oil changes.
Do I switch or stick with regular oil?

Gimme some feedback folks.

What does the owner's manual say? The dealerships will recommend anything that will provide an income to them. The manufacturer's recommendation is what you should be following. I change between regular (dyno or semi-syn) and full synthetic all the time...just depends on what's on sale and how generous I'm feeling. If you're sticking with the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, any oil will do. If you're looking to extend the oil change interval, then look closer at synthetics.
