I use a power washer wand to spray my undercarriage after driving on salted roads or getting the truck really dirty, but to get it really clean I have to hand wash it.

Power washers are like any other tool. they'll work fine and won't cause any harm with proper use.

One thing I can suggest though. I ran a hot water line to an outdoor spigot for doing cars. perhaps the most useful thing I've ever done to my home. it's amazing how much easier dirt and tar comes off with 150+* water!
