Default Tow/Haul mode

Is there any harm in driving on tow/haul mode regularly or for extended periods of time?
Plus, is there any real world advantage to MDS when it comes to everyday, non-interstate, driving? I've tried driving the same routes under 60 mph in tow/haul and without it, and get basically equal MPG numbers.

Why would you drive in Tow/haul mode unless you are towing?

I do it too sometimes. It tightens up the trans and shift points. It's like a different truck in tow haul.

Plus, with my flowmaster 50 at 'around town' speeds I don't like the sound when the MDS kicks in.

I also put the truck in tow/haul mode sometimes, but only around town. Around town with it engaged I do see better mpg with the 8 speed (truck runs in "ECO" mode more often). On the highway I leave it off. The tow/haul mode does change the shifts points and for me going up some hills and starting from a dead stop the truck performs better. (I have to the 3.21 gears)

Yes, I had thought of that but, as I said in the original post, I am wondering if just turning it off for extended amounts of time could lead to any negative effects on the truck.

As long as you do it through your shift lever and not tow mode, it wouldn't make any difference
