It looks to me like Outdoorsman CC 6'4 bed have auto while CC 5'7 and QC 6'4 both have the on demand case. That just comes from looking at trucks on lots on online photos from dealers all over the SE, haven't seen anything about it on Ram's page anywhere.

The Tradesman and Express don't have it, neither does the Outdoorsman. The Big Horn, Sport and Laramie have it.

It comes as part of the luxury package. If you didn't tic that off on the order sheet, you likely wont get the 4 Auto.

The Outdoorsman CC 6'4 DOES have 4w auto option, have seen at least 20 with it in it, but ONLY the CC 6'4. It also drops the V6 option, only can select Hemi and EcoDiesel which I'm guessing is why the auto box is added.

I have it on my big horn I Don't care for it with all the snow in Michigan I have a good testing platform for this truck and it's options 4wd auto I can still loose
Control of truck because it does not send power to the front until your sliding say on
Curvy road then to late your heading for the ditch 4wd lock both drive shafts turn at same ratio or speed Going down same road same spot I was in 4wd auto no issues tracked straight thur Also with the traction control and anti slip rear it's
And new challange on how the truck will react it will
Apply brake to only one tire and you get jolted and forced around I the cab But truck came with that option

With 4wd lock both drive shafts turn at the same ratio or speed. Going down the same road at the same spot where I was in 4wd auto I had no issues tracked straight through with 4wd lock turned on. Also with the traction control and anti slip rear it's a new challenge on how the truck will react. It will apply brake to only one tire and you get jolted and forced around in the cab. But the truck came with that option.
Translated for easier reading. I think I figured out what he meant anyway. Apologies if this was not the intended message.

Does he mean that he prefers 4 HIGH/lock to 4 auto?

You do not want to be in 4 Wheel anything at the limits of adhesion. It makes things allot more complicated if you get into a skid.

Default 4W Auto option

its important to know how your truck handles in 4wd lock or auto. if you have the chance have some fun and get to know what helps and what doesnt. I took a corner too hard once and I knew brakes would send me into a skid, throttle was my only option and the power at the front pulled me into the turn and helped me avoid a big mistake. This is why I dont mind when the kids tell their mother I was doing donuts in the parking lot
