Wow, what outstanding response to my question! Thanks to all of you.
The tag on my differential says that it is a 3.21. Guess that contributes to my initial great gas milage.
Looks like I will be towing a light weight compared to what some of you have been hauling. I do have a Reese Husky equalizing hitch and a Tekonsha P3 electric brake controller. I'll be interested to hear any other hauling experiences.

if not, you gotta ask for the build sheet, sometimes it is wrong on the window sticker.

check out this thread:

and post #8 here - http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=91589

but even with the 321 you can still tow a lot more than 3800lb, i see you have a 14. Look here too: http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/towing_guide/tow_chart/
Good links. Even with the 3.21 rear end the tow chart shows a maximum towing capacity of 4800 lbs. Plenty good.

Starboard would be the passenger side.

So one of these statements is incorrect.

I know I know... once under there, it isn't hard to figure out if it ain't on the first side you look at, look at the other.

I just ordered a build sheet for mine, no crawling involved.

I know what side starboard is, I was remembering incorrectly. I swear I remember it being on the passenger side, but I just crawled under there and it is indeed under the port side. Probably because I was upside down when I was looking at it.

Anything else you can share about the experience would be appreciated. thanks
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, had the flu.
I was towing a heavily modded Jeep XJ on a flatbed trailer with electric brakes. My buddy and I were curious as how my new Ram would tow, so we stopped by a nearby scale and weighed in at 6200lbs without us in it (so add another 440lbs). I averaged 17.3mpg hand calc, but was within 2tenths of the truck CPU. I kept the posted speed limit of 65mph and passed a few times. I had zero issues merging into traffic and at no point felt unsettled. We had a few errands to run during our trip, so transitioning from interstate to local roads gave us a good mix. I think its important for me to note I was driving very conservatively, keeping a sharp eye on the "current MPG screen."
I can say confidently that this truck will meet or exceed any reasonable towing need or any other "truck job" for that matter. The only downside I can think of is Resale, v6 trucks just don't hold their value as well.
Hope this helps,
Dom

Great report Dom. Do you have the 3.21 or the 3.55 rear end? My trailer should be in around the first week of March.

Since my RV trailer hasn't arrived yet I decided to take my airplane trailer out for a spin yesterday. It only weighs about 2200 lbs. No problem pulling it at all. Of course I didn't expect any. I took it up the long hill on IH20 near Cedar Hill SW of Dallas. Running 60 it did shift back and was turning about 3000 rpm. Typically I found that the comfortable spot at 65 with cruze on was Tow/Haul and the tranny limited to 7th gear. On level ground the engine was turning about 2300 rpm and instantaneous gas milage was around 17 mpg. Not bad. My previous tow vehicle was a Ford F150 4.6L V8 and with the same load at 65 it was only doing 12 mpg avg. The 3.6L/8 speed pulls the same trailer much better. Very good acceleration in the lower gears.
I'll let you know how it does when I get the RV.

Yes please share your experience towing your camper when you get it. My truck finally arrived this week, I've now had about 5 days and 300 miles of enjoyment with it. It gets up and goes as good or better than my 2011 silverado with the 5.3 v8.

My RV was completed at the Winnebago factory in Iowa on 2/25/14 and may be here this coming week. Congrats on your new truck. I really like mine. I'll give a report as soon as we haul it home from Ft. Worth. Here is a photo of one like we ordered.

We picked up our new Winnebago day before yesterday and our dealer, McClain's RV in Ft. Worth, offered us a chance to spend the night in their camp ground. We took them up on it and had a great time.
Yesterday we pulled it home, about 25 miles. I couldn't be happier with the performance of the RAM 3.6L V6. With cruse on at 60 mph and tow/haul mode the engine was turning 2100 rpm and a few times it shifted back a gear or two going up hill. I limited the top gear to 7. The highest rpm I saw was 3000 during shift back. Looking forward to a nice long trip. I think I will be getting 15 to 17 mpg from the instantaneous MPG readings that I was getting on the EVIC.
