Default New Chrysler Recall

Just received a New Recall 13V-038.
(The Rear Axle Pinion Nut may loosen due to Undersized Pinion Shaft Splines)
This relates to undersized pinion shaft splines!!
Have to wonder if this was the problem in the first place.
So much for outsourcing the rear Differential! What next.
Chrysler States it could take as little as 5 hours if found defective and possibly more. Will they cover transportation costs?
What Next.

This recall was first mentioned at least 9 months ago, but no parts were available at that time. Several owners had "heard" of it and driven into the dealers who told them to go home, no parts, and maybe not even applicable to their vehicle VIN.

I checked my dealer and he said not to worry due to my own VIN.
It's the lock-nut on the pinion gear which may not have been properly torqued/locked. If you rear axle has a "clunk" when shifting into gear or between reverse/drive.... then get to the dealer. Otherwise, you should wait untill notified.

Hi Ghorn, Unfortunately, this is an update to the prior mailings. I had the Pinion nut checked.
Now it's (Undersized Pinion Shaft Splines) not loose pinion Nut.

Note this is recall #2 for Pinion Problems.
They are now saying
"The Axil Pinion Nut could Loosen due to the rear Pinion Shaft Splines being Undersized!!" Not a LockTite Problem as thought before!!!

Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ram 1500 trucks manufactured from February 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through October 20, 2011; model year 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota trucks manufactured from February 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through September 30, 2011; model year 2009 Chrysler Aspen trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008; and model year 2009 Dodge Durango trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008. The rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to an undersized pinion spline that can allow relative motion between the nut and companion flange.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning.
REMEDY:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a pinion nut retainer, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
NOTES:
This campaign is an expansion of a recall campaign 12V-474. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N08. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
