Default Magnaflow performance with loudness of flowmaster

Hey guys, so basically I'm asking is there a muffler out there that's as loud as a flow master but with the performance of a magnaflow? E cutout?? Gibson? Borla? Any opinions are appreciated

i wasnt aware of much of a sound difference between the flowmaster, and magna flow. thought i researched both pretty well...i have the 14" magna flow.. if you wanted it louder you could remove the stock resonators from the tailpipes, or a lot of guys here swear by changing the stock y pipe.
of course if i could afford it i would do tru duels with long tube headers!

Thank you for the idea. I guess a better way to put it is in terms of loudness. Flow master is LOUD but doesn't flow well. While magnaflow flows well but isn't loud enough for me

What series Flowmaster are you trying to match? The Magnaflow 14" is pretty loud and of course it's a straight-through design. I have a Borla XR-1 oval and I would say its comparable to a Magnaflow 18"....it's pretty quiet when under 3000 rpms but is loud as $hit when under full pedal, it's straight through too. I think the XR-1 round design might be slightly louder though. Maybe something to consider.

Either way, if you're really looking to wake the dead you're going to want to get headers and remove the resonators too.

Go onto YouTube when you get the chance and search different exhaust types. There are hundreds of videos of Rams with magnaflows, flowmasters, borla, corsa, and other custom works. You might be able to custom make something to match your needs.

If just the muffler check Zoomer's exhaust, just put my old Zoomer's system on my buddies 04 Hemi and it is still the best/smoothest sounding system I've heard on a Hemi Ram....

An electric cutout will give you the loudest sound. But it's not a muffler. Flowsmaster is a more raspy loud sound compared to the smooth sound of the Magnaflows. I have e cutouts and magnaflows for when I want to be super loud and then "quiter"

yea there is a sound difference...pretty much only flow guys can appreciate that "flow" sound..as a former owner (now mag owner), when comparing the 2 you realize the flow doesn't sound right at wot, mean at idle and part throttle but when you get on it the sound flushes out... again, only a flow guy will appreciate it, everyone else not so much so..

When would you like the exhaust to be 'loud'? Idle? Cruising in town? Throttling down?

I have what I would consider a somewhat stealthy setup. At a stop, or cruising it has a modest rumble, but moving through gears, and definitely throttling down and it's pretty amazing sounding. Leaving a light under quite normal throttle and it's equally impressive until you hit your cruising speed and can back off a tad.

I would never want louder. In fact I would never want loud for the sake of loud. As mentioned above, there is far more to consider than volume. There is a quality of that rumble. Anyone can be loud .. straight pipes etc. But to run a silky smooth, but muscular exhaust note under a variety of conditions takes planning and $$($$$).

From intake to tips, it all plays a part.
