Default oil change light need help !!!!!

Hello All!! .... sooo its been a while since ive posed on the forumz... but Im always checking in..... recently I had an oil change done at the stealer... they have never treated me that great.. but this time I think I was completely robbed I was charged 120 $ for an oil change and a tire rotation they did not do.... but my oil light came back on... I did the standard key on... 3 pumps on the gas pedal... to reset but it keeps coming back on... is it possible that they did not change my oil at all.. and this is my truck telling me . PLEASE help! thanks!!

You know the drill, pull the dipstick and see how the oil looks & smells. Also, check the filter, is it clean?, like a new one?, not like something that's been driven around(I would think yours might get a little road grime from wet/snowy roads?)
Any shop now usually gives free rotation just so they can check your brakes more closely for an easy sell on a brake job. I hope they didn't forget to put oil back in.

This sounds weird, are you turning the key to the on position past accessory? All the dash lights should be on just don't start the engine. Then three presses of the gas pedal then turn key to off. I change my own oil and just reset it whenever it comes on, never had a problem resetting it. I don't think it actually measures oil level or condition of the oil, it is simply a duty cycle thing.

Hubby did an oil change this weekend and, thanks to the info in this thread, he is no longer bothered but the oil change light.

I don't think it reads anything about the oil's condition, either, but maybe has a formula using hours, mileage etc.
