mine is the same. up an incline and it is really pronounced. I don't feel it as bad when i first start up in the morning. also happens in any gear. I have tried the ERS, I have manually shifted each gear, I have turned tow/haul mode on, is still there. when cruising in 8th at 73mph the vibration is there. but not as pronounced cause of less torque. what gears does everyone have? I have 3.92 with LSD and 8 speed.

This reminds me of the 2000 Silverado I had with the 4.3 V6 and auto trans.. it had a persistent exhaust vibration at about 80 km/h (50 mph) under light throttle. Wasn't there when new, it took about 3 months of driving and hot/cold cycles to start doing it.

GM had no fix for it for almost a year, then they added some ballast weights to the exhaust system to reduce resonance, and cured about 80% of the noise and vibration. It turned out that the thinner stainless exhaust was more prone to vibration issues than the older heavier plain steel ones.

The weights looked like the engine pods on the starship Enterprise, one on each side in front of the muffler.

It seems like this is something similar, just the right combination of rpm, rear end ratio, and transmission gearing and it's there.. Aside from the change of TC and flex plates in Canada, it has all the characteristics of sympathetic resonance.

Next time I drive mine I'll see if it does it too. I think it has a faint vibration at around 1800 rpm in high gear.

I usually cruise at about 63-64 mph on the highway, which translates to 1600 rpm with the 6-speed and 3.55 rear end. I was in a hurry a couple days ago and pushed it up to roughly 66-67 mph, noticeably more noise at that speed. Dropped back down to 64 and back to quiet running.

This seems more common with the guys who have the 8-speed and 3.92 rear ends. I was talking with the shop foreman at my dealer a few weeks ago and he mentioned that Chrysler was having some issues with the 8-speed, although he didn't elaborate and I didn't press for details.

Did my part last night and the dealer is calling my vibration into Star. Hopefully they find a fix for it. Once I noticed it its all I seem to feel on my foot LOL just one of those annoyances.

I first reported this problem to my dealership last August and there is no reason Ram hasn't started authorizing repairs by now.

Tom,

Did the dealership have an idea what is causing the issue? I had to call the dealership 3 times and still nothing yet from Chrysler. I hate when the dealership says they will call back and never do. I think it's time to call Chrysler Customer Care. The last time I called I got 3 years of free oil changes. Maybe I'll get some inside information.

Hi Lloyd,

The service adviser said the symptoms sounded like a bad torque converter. The technician verified the vibration and when he called it into the Star center, the center acknowledge they were aware of the 2000 RPM vibration issue on some 2013 Rams, but they did not have a documented fix at that time (late January). The Star center did not mention the root cause of the vibration, only that they were aware of it.

I checked mine today at 2000 rpm, smooth as silk. I tried it in drive, which with the 6 speed tranny and 3.55 rear end equals 80 mph. Next I dropped down to 5 using the +/- shift, still smooth at 2000. Hopefully it stays that way! 15,000 kms on the truck now.

Haven't noticed any vibration here. Hemi 8-speed with 3.55.
