Exclamation Clarion Head Unit!!!

Has any of you have experience with clarion HUs? I like this stereo the fz409 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020FZ40...&ssi=0&tp=5684 but I don't know if clarion makes good stereos, I have experience with pioneer premier HUs, and somewhat with Alpine HUs...

Please let me know what you guys think of that stereo, I'll possibly be buying it from eBay but I wanna see your comments about that HU.

Well right now I don't plan on adding subs or amps, I just need a nice MP3 and USB capable HU.

I too have had a few Clarion head units in the past and have had only good experience with them. I liked them so much that in my younger days I bought a $1200 unit (mid 1990's price) that was preamp only but controlled EVERYTHING. It controlled mini disc players (remember these?), TV screens, CD changers, DVD/VCR, game consoles, etc., at the same time with the addition of a module. This was before mp3 players and iPods...

In fact, I still have the HU in its original box on a shelf in my garage...probably couldn't get $20 for it now.

blackknight04 is right though...you get what you pay for and that includes Clarion.

Now that sounds really good

How about Alpine, and the only thing I don't like about Alpine is that they don't have at least 3 band EQ, they have only two, bass and treble, most brands have 3, bass, mid, and treble!!!

Depends on the model...

Alpine has some good units, everything depends on whats more important. Whether its sound quality, ipod control, ability to run active, bluetooth, mp3, budget. Tons of options, I back Clarion on certain models, not all. But to be honest, the best bang for the buck going is a DXZ785usb, find one of those and you will be set for just about anything. If you want all out SQ, the DRZ9255 is the ticket, quite pricey though.

Sound quality, MP3 as in USB, I'm not so crazy about having a HU that is iPod capable but it could be nice.

For Alpine I was looking at the CDE-102
Clarion: fz409
Pioneer: I have the DEH-P670MP on my SUV, I could just take it but then I will have to buy another HU anyways...

So I'm between the alpine cde-102 and the clarion fz409 =( really hard to decide!

Talk to y'all tomorrow, I must get to bed.
