Default Worried about seats.

My seats are absorbing the smell and I notice it every time I open the doors.

I started noticing some smell right away (just figured it was new car burn off smell), but the real STANK didn't start until about 2500 I would guess. And even then it wasn't really getting in the cab. After 3000 it got to total rotten animal smell and got in the cab.

I have had mine back 1.5 weeks and about 500 miles since I got it flushed and filled and I have a pretty good burnt smell again. Not the STANK yet, but I suspect it will return.

I had the smell at 500 miles, was unbearable around 2500. Stayed bad until they switched the hoses, flushed, refilled. I have ~2000 miles since then. As posted by DK1, there is now an odd burnt smell, definitely antifreeze in nature, but not the decaying animal smell.

What I was first told its reaction between the coolant and a solvent that wasn’t removed during the manufacturing process. Now they are saying it’s a reaction between coolant and the hoses. Something not right with the hoses, “the curing process” and the new antifreeze is reacting with the rubber.
At this point I don’t care what it is.

Good news, They did give me a rental truck. It’s a Ford f150 4x4 so I’m not smelling the STANK!! Happy Days!!!! the drive home and on the around the job site was VERY nice.

I wonder why their first fix wasn't to try new hoses AND different anti freeze? If mine gets bad again, I am going to ask for new hoses and a different kind of anti-freeze.

I had this exact thought, why not do a thorough flush, put the SAME stock hoses on with the HOAT coolant and see what happens. Im betting it would be fine. BUT Im also feeling they want to make this new invesment into the OAT coolant work. I cant imagine why else they would be willing to dump gobs of money into remanufacturing new hose from a different scource when access to the HOAT coolant is readily available.....

Then again, were just left in the dark, there is most likely a perfect exaplanation to why they are doing what they are, but of course they arent going to tell us!

If my truck was stinking after getting hose replacements I'd seriously consider getting rid of the antifreeze or at the very least dilute it. Seems to me the antifreeze eating through the rubber is the problem.

Provided your in a warm enough climate.

I dont think its eating through the hoses, I believe its just a chemical reaction between to two substances. My neighbor keeps mentioning hes planning on doing his own flush and swapping coolant since our local dealer is not doing anything for him. Hes only afraid it may somehow void warrent coverage on his cooling system.
