Default Northern Virginia Plenum Repair help?

Anyone in northern virginia a.k.a. D.C. metro area able to help me change the plenum gasket in my 2001 v6? Just got quoted $600 just for labor by the auto shop and money is tight since I am the only one working right now and covering all the bills. I dont expect to get help for free, I have about $250 left over from my tax refund that I could give you and of course I would cover all the parts, just dont feel comfortable doing this job myself.

If you were closer, I'd help you for a case of beer. $600 is steep.

It's really not that bad, just a little intimidating the first time you do it. Just study the how to's and take your time. I'd also change your sparkplugs, wires, and distributor cap and rotor while the intake manifold is off. Rock Auto has good deals on all that, just watch the shipping.

Also, I really recommend the Hughes plenum kit. You could probably source everything a little cheaper, but it comes with just about everything you need from all the gaskets, new intake manifold bolts/washers, the little coolant hose from the block to the intake manifold, etc.

If you can't find anybody to help you and run into any problems, let us know.

Yea I've been researching non-stop, just worried if I find something else wrong and not able to put everything back together in a weekend. This is my daily driver and my fiance takes my other car to work everyday so without this I'm screwed lol. Thanks for the tips, going to try and knock it out this weekend

I understand. First time I did mine, I was on a time crunch as well. You can definitely get her done in half a day. The good thing about having a V6 is more room in the engine bay.

Don't forget to pick up new coolant, blue loctite (if the kit doesn't come with it), and black RTV sealant. You'll also need a fuel line disconnect tool for the fuel rail.
