I also went with the Penzoil Platinum to avoid any future warranty hassles. However, after re-reading the owner's manual, I see that Chrysler merely recommends MS-6395. It doesn't say that they require it.

It's funny you say that pp runs quieter than m1 in your hemi. I had a 2012 previously which a ran till almost 100,000 miles. I used m1 in it from the first oil change. It always ran a bit noisey but being the first hemi I owned I figured it was normal, This 2014 is quieter, I only have 1000 miles on it though.

The other thing about my 2012 that worried me is that I did the first oil change at about 2700 miles because it was down to the add. Using m1 it used about 3/4 of a liter between changes which I did faithfully every 6000 miles. It ran that way all the way through the 100,000 miles I put on it, not increasing that is. They say some consumption during break in is normal so I didn't worry too much about it.

Like I said this new truck hasn't moved off full in the first 1000 miles which i'm happy about. How many miles would you put on before you did the first change? I don't think I'm comfortable going past 3,000

It is a matter of preference. I changed mine at 783 miles.
