Uh oh... heads up, people! This does not sound too good, as I heard that Hsong before from Chrysler
Software change, you say? I previously owned a CRD Liberty (RIP
) that got a recall for the tranny (torque converter too weak for diesel output) and the cheapest solution Chrysler came up with was reducing torque and HP through the infamous F37 mod to the tranny and engine control modules. Needless to say I bypassed that poor idea with appropriate SW & HW aftermarket tweaks that kept the lil' tank going strong, running better and giving great mileage, which should have been the case when this Jeep was originally produced!
Still, this is what pisses me off when they try to correct a flaw. Bean counter mentality: take the cheapest road, and always to our detriment in the end. I would not appreciate to find out the HP and torque outputs required to be lowered because of a fundamental flaw Chrysler overlooked or missed entirely. Are they going to make me regret purchasing the V6 instead of the Hemi? Sure hope not, but I'll have the eyes of a hawk all over this situation as it evolves...
