Default omni car!!!

Also new to this forum...I'd like to know what would work in my 1987 horizon omni car. Now it has a 2.2 carburated tied in it. Would I be able to drop something else in this that wouldn't take a lot of fabricating? It's a 3 speed auto

See if you can find the 2.2 turbo/5 speed out of one of the Shelby Omni's (GLH, GLHS) or even a Shelby Charger. Holy grail would be the Turbo III out of one of the early 90's R/T (Spirit, Daytona) cars (224hp, Turbo intercooled, Lotus designed DOHC cyl head).

Converting a carbed omni to a fuel injected turbo 2.2 or 2.5 is a TON of work. Plan on changing everything from brakes (cuz you'll die otherwise) to wiring to gas tank. Oh and transmission. And yah motor. You'd be better off just buying a glh-t. Shop here: turbododge dot com

Many moons ago I had a 1989 Omni the had the 2.2 from a Sundance with a 5 speed, pretty quick for an old 4 banger!
