Pqia i thought was funded by petroleum companies.
Makes you wonder how good they are,if they don't have any info on Redline, that seems a little suspicious.

I'll check out your other link later, but here's one for you to check out to.
There's a few others, but i'll have to dig for them, and most of them rate Mobil 1 lower then Amsoil or Redline.
Mobil 1's base stock is a grade lower then either Amsoil or Redline as far as i've read, and i've done a fair bit of reading on oils in the last year

That link is not germane to the subject. It describes viscosity only.
Bob is the oil guy is a familiar site to me. I like it, but it has never answered the question we're discussing to my knowlege.

The PQIA is an independent testing organization, non-biased. You can take their test results to the bank.

Here's a link that may prove informative: http://www.pqiamerica.com/March2013P...sallfinal.html
The Amsoil OE lubricant tested in the link above is Amsoil's cheapest lubricant, and is known to be cheap group III hydrocraked petroleum. It compares to the current formulation of Mobil 1. Amsoil sells OE for less than $5.00 per quart to preferred customers (online members), what you should pay for cheap base oil.

However, Amsoil Signature Series 5W-20 has a NOACK of 5.5%, almost 50% lower than anything Mobil 1 formulates. Why, because it's a true PAO/Ester synthetic base oil, not cheap hydrocracked "highly refined" petroleum.

Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 - 6.9%

Amsoil Signature Series 10W-30 - 5.3%

Want to know what people should fear. The fact that big oil companies omit this specification on all of their spec sheets. Why, because they are hiding the truth. This one spec alone reveals base oil used in the formulation. You are not getting a true "fully" synthetic base oil, yet still paying the price for it.

Same here. I would also like to read that lab test.
