Is this all 2013 3.6L 8Sp? Or just certain vin/build dates? I don't WOT my truck why would I let the dealer do it, makes me nervous but I'd rather have them fix it now than have something that will break on me later.

This is my truck...My 37 grand...To even suggest this is flat crazy...And on top of it 10 cycles of wide open throttle brake torgue?Doesn,t anyone think of the wear and tear on motor mounts, universal joints, transmission bands and burnt tranny oil.And if it breaks the over revving of the engine...Either replace the part or not..There not giving my truck a catastrophic stress test !

My call to the Ram customer care fell on deaf ears...I got the standard and expected "this is the procedure our engineers have deemed necessary."
And was also informed that if it wasn,t performed and a failure occurs later and damages something else it might not be covered...WOW!
Ya know guys this truck would never see this kind of abuse if it weren,t for there faulty part...Is it just me?

Anyone run the VIN number check on the ram web site and get the recall on there before they received one in the mail?

No way are they testing (abusing) my truck with this torture test. All the engine and drive line parts stressed to there limits (10 times) just to see if the output shaft fails.

I don't do this to my truck, so why would I let someone at the dealer service center do it. They don't have a $ invested in my truck and could care less if they over stress the other parts when doing this stress test.

I am more concerned that the test would damage/reduce the life of the other parts involved in this test. My truck runs perfect and I don't want something to become a problem after the test. So many important parts involved from suspension, engine mounts, engine, 4x4 drive line, axle, ujoints, brakes and transmission & transfer case.

If the output shaft fails on it own then they can fix it at that time. I have the life time warranty if it is not covered under the recall at a later date.

In other words "NOT MY TRUCK BOYS"

JMO.

Default Dang ! Finally..

Finally someone else realizes the abuse Ram wants to do our trucks...The responsibility they have to fix a problem shouldn't cost the consumer abuse to the product !
I,m like you .. NO WAY ! I will more than likely NEVER hold the throttle wide open...Let alone 10 times in quick succession..Give me a break !!

I called their customer service and after two weeks getting escalated, they finally talked to one of their engineers, but little was addressed. They say the engine/transmission has failsafes. My argument against that is who does WOT in normal use. No one. So I still believe its unnecessary stress.

Originally the one person said my warranty wouldn't cover transmission issues, if I don't get the recall done within 90 days. After I talked to their supervisor, they changed their tune on this. I asked for this in writing and they wouldn't do it.

So i was thinking of these options:
1. Don't do warranty recall. I already have 25K miles on it.
2. Do the warranty recall (watch them do it?) and do nothing else.
3. Do the warranty recall and buy a lifetime warranty from chryslerfactoryplans or chryslerwarrantys. FYI - I have been debating on doing this anyways.

Thoughts? Anyone else done the recall yet?

The dealer did it on my truck, I wasn't very comfortable with it just like you guys are. I comforted myself by thinking it can't be much worse than taking off on a hill towing a big trailer.

My truck "passed" and it doesn't feel any different. Its arguable that they've accelerated wear on the drive train components. I plan on running this truck into the ground, so time will tell if the drive train becomes the "weakest link" and the reason why I finally junk the truck.

I think that as proud Ram owner, I have confidence in the brand I believe in integrity of the drive train and that it is able to handle this relatively mild "torture test" and come out of it unchanged.
