Default Doors locking by themselves.

Hi there, I am reposting this as I did not get a helpful response yet. I have a 2013 Ram slt purchased 6 months ago. All of a sudden, doors lock by themselves seconds after I unlock them or get out of the truck which is a pain since we like to leave the keys in the ignition when truck is parked inside garage. It started doing it last week-end after I went to the bottle depot and locked the doors with the key fob as the tailgate was left open, it might be a coincidence but that's when the problem started. Many ram owners have reported this problem but I cannot find any info on previously posted threads for this. Not to be confused with doors locking as you are driving, my problem is occurring when the vehicle is stopped with engine off. Any suggestions???

That sounds like an ECM problem. I'd take it back to the dealership and have them look at it. The ECM may need to be flashed or replaced.

The doors should not lock with the key in the ignition. Roger, are you sure that would be an ECM issue? It sounds like the BCM to me.

Body Control Module - could be. But the electric locks are electronic and, at least in the 3rd gen trucks, are controlled through the instrument cluster. That's why I was thinking Electronic Control Module.

Either way, you've got a module going haywire, probably, and need to have it checked out, Martin.

Good call, Blaise!

Okay so I took my truck to the dealer to have them look at it about a month ago. They say the issue is the master switch in driver door. They didn't have it so they had to order. It took a month to get it. I took it in today to have the thing put in and they tell me that the new replacement is also defective? Been told it will probably take another month..apparently there's a lot of issues with these switches and the manufacture can't keep up making them. They make it sound like this is a huge problem. Weird coz I didn't read too many posts on that problem with the 13 Ram. I will call Chrysler tomorrow to confirm this is a known issue. Pretty pissed off..Huge problem for the wife and I. We put the kids on back seat with engine running, or not running..and the doors lock, this is a crew cab so by the time I close that door and try to open mine I'm screwed and cannot get it! Not too impressed this is a huge pain the ass.

Happened to me too. Replaced the drivers side door relay switch and problem solved. Was a huge pita, before it got fixed.

My master switch went in my 2013 while it was in at the dealer for an oil change. They actually locked the keys in the truck. There was a new one in stock and they had it replaced in about 30 minutes while I waited.Problem solved.
