The dealership installed a POS alarm system in my 2009
they charged me a effin fortune, it looks like crap & i am not even sure it works

I believe the only reason it has not been stolen is because, supposedly without the FOB in the ignition, it can't be started
The other reason is because of the way i have to park

This what Dodge installed, the green or blue thing, it is suppose to sound the alarm if the Ram is jarred. I had hit the Ram hard as i can & no alarm ever went off

By the way, if someone decides to enter your Ram from the back window, it can be stripped, it does not matter which rear window you have

You don't want to know what a person can do with a battery powered drill & or a can of canned air; the stuff that you buy to clean computers. It contains high pressure 134a (1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane) or the same stuff that's in your refrigerator/air conditioner. When you tip it over and squeeze the handle it releases liquid 134a at a temperature of -153.94*F. Nowhere near as cold as nitrogen, but it is still cold enough to embrittle cheaper locks.

Does anyone pay attention to car alarms anymore!! When I'm in town I hear them going off and everyone ignores them.
I'm not that security minded, if fact the wife is always after me about not locking the house/vehicles.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to booby trap it, but when the police find your burglar on the ground with a melon sized hole in his back then the legal issues you'd probably have would be worse than getting your truck stolen.

Best deterrent is to be smart about where you park. I always park under a light if possible or in plain view as close to my destination as possible, keep any valuables out of sight, ect; much of what has been said already. Not sure the alarm installed on the truck is worth much, hope to never find out. If someone wants the truck while I & family are in it, well, that's what when my CCW come in handy.

I have tinted windows all around and they are the safety kind which is basically like invisishield like what you can put on your phones screen to protect it. They serve a dual purpose and will definitely deter a burglar when they smash the window and it breaks but stays intact. I mean sure if you kept whacking it a few hard hits your in but most won't want to draw that much attention. Just park next to a Cadillac escalade, they made the news because burglars would smash the window and yank on the steering wheel to break it free and have a push car push it away lol and those suckers are like $50000 at least. The news said on average I sh@t you not was 15 seconds to take them away. As for the window tint my father had it on his old jeep back in the day just regular tint and a law mower shot a rock out and it hit the passenger front window hard and just broke glass and the tint was still in tact not one piece of glass inside.

The moral of my story I guess is unless you have a custom bullet proof truck if they want it bad enough they will get it.

I have a solid metal back rack installed on my truck, it took about 10 minutes with a air powered cut off wheel just to cut the bracket down a bit. It covers the rear window nicely and now way a human is entering that rear window.
