Ok....so it's either due to the lack of sleep or I'm very much missing something.

Having read through the instructions many times, I've noticed that number 2 in the required parts section isn't listed in the photograph identifying all the parts. This is what I got:

Can someone explain how this fits into the install?

Sure that plugs into the 2013 tail light side.

On my iPad right now. When I get home on my computer I will link a video of my old messy harness.

Right...the plug in that kit is indeed for the 13+ LED. but what about the heavy green wires (6) or the smaller gauge blue wires (6)?

Those are the leads needed to connect to the Male H13/9008 connector which connects to your truck wiring without cutting up your original connector. Use either the green or purple whichever matches the same gauge wiring on the back of the LED tails. Did you purchase all of the parts listed in the first post?

Are there leds that will just plug straight into my 12 or do you have to rewire all the new sets.

Rewiring is necessary when using the factory ones although I am sure the aftermarket has them.

I haven't yet...I'm ordering those materials tonight.

That being said, having thought about it the past couple days, I think I have figured out whats going on. Basically what I have to build is a "Y" adapter...with the split part of the "Y" being the factory tail/stop/turn function and the other being the factory reverse function. Those come together with the adapter seen in the picture of the harness kit above and that plugs into the 2013+ tails.

Yeah you've nailed it. The picture that was posting is the bottom of the Y.. the side that connectors to the 13 tail. You are going to use only five... your choice, of the 12 wires provides.
