Default changing my passenger side universal 1997 dodge ram 4x4

Okay I really need help i need to change the u joint on the passenger side. My question is what size is the big nut that right there when you take the tire of and that you need to remove to take the hub off to get the axle out i was told by autozone it was 33mm and when my buddy changed his he said it was 36mm but all over the web its saying 43mm i really need an answer in the next couple hours thanks

I have the socket from OTC Tools part# 6006 and they list it as 1-11/16" http://www.otctools.com/products/dod...locknut-socket, not sure what the metric equivalent would be. I got the OTC one because it's 1/2" drive and impact rated. you can get it from Amazon.com for $31. 36mm is what is on my truck that has independent front suspension and cv axles.

i have a 1 11/16 socket i used to take that same nut off. it worked just fine

I concur. It's 1 11/16. The metric equivalent is 43mm.
