I use tornador foamer and Megs apc to clean them. Foam will not soak them wet.

I use a mini steam cleaner for mine. I use the same thing on our fall arrest and rescue harnesses at work to remove the bitumen that accumulates on them. Because it's low temp steam it's warm enough to break down greases but not hot enough to affect the nylon webbing.

Yes that is also a good way to clean it safely. Steam can remove and disinfect the thing easy and fast.
