Default What is this? Exhaust Info

So I was under my truck taking a look at my stock exhaust and I seen this on both sides. I am not sure if it is resonators or the cats... No idea... I would really like some more info on getting a difference exhaust, possibly glasspacks but I am at a loss.

ALso would like to clarify, there is one of these on the driver and passenger side that come together right before the muffler. The pic shown is on the driver side.

Another question, since my exhaust is 1 in and 2 out, would I be able to put a single glasspack on if I cut the muffler off or would I need to get a y pipe and put two glasspacks on. Plus I could use what size diameter as well.,

Those are the catalytic converters. The diameter I believe is only 2 1/4". And, you should already have a y pipe.

Okay thanks. Then I guess there are no resonators on it. I did not get a picture so I would have to get under the truck to check, but if I remember it does go to a y pipe from both sides right before the muffler.

The restriction in the exhaust is where the pipes y back together right before the muffler, and the stock exhaust manifolds.
Those two pipes are crushed together to fit in one pipe. magnaflow makes a set of y pipes with high flow cats that are nice. or some guys have that crushed y section cut out and have an actual y connection welded in place.
I've got bbk shorty headers, magnaflow y-pipe with the factory borla muffler and it sounds nice. plus I've read several times that the factory borla muffler is guaranteed for life

I have the stock Borla exhaust system on my Daytona. It sounds great.

It does sound good but I kind of want it louder. I am a little limited as to what I can afford. I definitely would not mid doing headers and the rest. It just gets too expensive for me. My tips also rattle. It sounds like someone took an empty coke can and put tiny pebbles in it. I can hear it when I am idling at a red light. I can also just go and shake my tip when it is off and hear it. I was thinking about just some glasspacks... I definitely like the idea of high flow cats as well. Looks like it would be a pretty easy install.

I might try that later. Let me ask this, obviously the whole exhaust looks a little rusted and dirty, but I do see clamps on it. Was the exhaust just clamped on or clamped and welded? If I was able to get new tailpipes would I just be able to unclamp the old ones and clamp on the new ones?

I believe there was a tack weld on 1 or 2 of the connections. I cut the tacks with a angle grinder, then you can pull the connections apart.
