Default New here: What do I have?

Hi guys, first post here.

I recently bought a used 2003 1500 and it looks like I have a modified truck on my hands. I know some of the stuff is obviously aftermarket but I was mainly wondering about the suspension. It has been lowered but I honestly don't know where to start in finding out what was used and such.

Here's some pictures of what it looks like from the top. My main concern is with the suspension, being lowered and using it to pull a ski boat.

I'm installing a hitch Monday that is rated for 6000lbs and that is plenty to haul my boat but I don't know if I should change any suspension components.

I'd love to hear any opinions on it.

for load carrying on a lowered truck,
you can add either Airlift bags, or air shocks..

I have used air shocks on my lowered dakotas,
fully pumped up,
they lift the back up about 2" and add 5-600# capacity

Thanks for the reply!

I'll be honest, I'm a complete newb when it comes to suspensions and lifts and stuff. I've messed with performance parts and rebuilt carbs and all but have never done any suspension modifications on anything.

What I'm thinking about doing is just doing a lift instead of the air shocks. I love the lowered look but I bought the truck as a third vehicle for pulling and I'd get better use out of a truck that was lifted a little versus lowered ya know.

If I bought this rough country kit would it have everything I would need to completely change my current setup? I know if it was stock I would be fine but since it HAS been lowered would I need to revert to stock and then add this?

I know this sounds confusing but hopefully you get the idea.

I've had the airlift 1000 bags on the rear for a month now,
and pulled a 20' 2500# camper last week..
no problemo -besides the 8-spd shifting a lot )

I like the bags..
pump em up for the load, air em down when done and truck settles back down

I used the Airlift 60824 Durango application as suggested in this forum as being applicable for a lowered 3"+ '09+ 1500 Rear...

so far so good, they seem to fit about perfect.
