Default 5th wheel hitch install

We just had a 5th wheel hitch installed on our new 2014 ram. It appears it was installed by drilling holes and securing it to the frame. Will this void the frame warranty? Looking for answers and if this could void the warranty why would a reputable installer install it this way? Thanks.

As long as it was installed correctly and with proper hardware it should not void or affect the warranty. The hitch should be secured into the frame and your truck is designed for heavy duty work including towing and especially 5th wheel, so a 5th wheel hitch is a required accessory.

The 2014 frame was upgraded. As long as the installer used a 5th wheel mount compatible with the 2014, you should be good. Your dealer can inspect and verify the warranty is not being voided. Below is one item from the RAM literature. Congrats on the new truck. I'm loving mine so far.

'50 KSI STEEL FRAME
Strong trucks require a solid foundation. Which is why we’ve equipped the 2014 Ram 2500 with a high-strength 50 ksi steel frame, up from last year’s 35 ksi steel frame. With eight cross members, including a new rear axle cross member for gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch, the new frame provides for thinner-walled, mass-efficient sections without compromising strength'
