Default If its a Ford - Tow it with a RAM

I read the forums here often but rarely ever post but I just wanted to share. I bought my ram 1500 4x2 in 2012 brand new and LOVE MY TRUCK. I am one of those guys who always wanted a truck but had no use for it. Now that I'm grown and have a house and responsibilities it seemed like the most logical step forward. Long story short after 2 years of loving my truck I decided to use my truck as an actual truck. I'm not a fan of fords by far but this one was a classic and happened to be a gift from dear ol dad so I went home and picked her up. Outside of the dang U-Haul trailer being heavy as an SOB. it towed like a champ. No issues at all Heavy bastard drank a tank and a quarter of gas on a one way 271 mile trip but I didn't buy it for gas saving purposes. Outside of the occasional 30 bags of mulch for the wife or pulling the riding lawn mower This is the first time I got to use it for its intended purpose . . Just had to share that's all.

Nice. Next time reposition the truck a little farther back on the trailer and that will take some of the squat out. Good looking truck.

Thank you sir. I should have backed it in to balance the load. I realized what I did wrong after I did it but it was already pushing 80 degrees around 10 am and I had my 74 year old dad with me playing director and not actually helping me so I said screw it and strapped that sucker down as is and hit the road

Pretty impressive not using a weight distribution hitch. I'm sure that load is close to 8k pounds with truck/trailor.. What you average for gas mileage?

roughly around 12 miles per gallon. . I did the math after I got home it was pretty close to around 8k. Its got a 351 V8 rebuilt engine so I know it weighs a bit more than the 302 it came with. That sucker was heavy. I'm new at pulling heavy loads and didn't really know what I was getting into. I just knew I had to get it home and was in no real rush. Average speed was around 60-65 most of the trip. I think I crept up to 70 going down hill once.

Those are pretty good MPG numbers. I'm sure your dad appreciated it!

Thank your sir. I'm not a Ford guy by far but I do have a love for classic wheels. I watch a lot of that show "Counting Cars" and always have wanted a project I could call my own to toy around with in the garage.
