Mine usually runs around 230-235, but gets up to 260 when towing my trailer up hills.

Mine typically range from 198 for my short 8-mile commute each way, to as high as 265 towing up a steep 7% grade near the top of the climb. Full operating temp seems to be around 210. My oil temp while towing averages around 240.

Study it REAL close. Drove 100 miles and almost ran out of gas.....Answer this: Why is my tranny temp higher not towing cruising the interstate at 75 than it is towing 7k into a 40 knot headwind (the picture)

Normal temps for mine...

After I switched to synthetic, my oil stays mostly at 213 now.

Wow, 4mpg. Must have been uphill as well as into headwind.

My theory for lower trans temp pulling that load is that at 4000 rpm, a lot more fluid is getting pushed through the cooler.
