Default Researching - have some questions pleeze...

Howdy
Looking at the 2014 R/T and have some questions...hoping you guys can help a noob.

Does the drivers seat have a release to get behind the seats or do you use the power switch for the seat back to move it? I see there is a release on the non power passenger seat, but could not find one on the divers side. No big deal, but was wondering because the first one I looked at the dealer, the sales guy did not know.

Does anyone have any up to date MPG figures for real world city driving. I would not ask, but when I scrolled thru the display during the test drive (I reset it before the drive) I got 11mpg . I was getting on it, but that was surprising. The plus side is that I can put regular fuel in the R/T and my current car needs premium, so when I calculate the current 18MPG vs. the Ram, it is close to a push.

Is there a bed extender/divider available?? I think I'd get a lid for the bed and this keeps the "stuff" confined. The one thing I really liked about the Ford.

Im cross shopping the Tremor, but honestly it is not even close. 8 speed, 400HP, heated seats and wheel, keyless doors and start, tons of storage, and looks better (IMHO). Oh ... and less $$$. I want to like the Ford, but pulling out a key seems kind of retro in 2014.

Let me point out one thing that I think is bad azzz: When you hit the remote to unlock the doors...the tailgate unlocks! The Ford does not do that and if you are going to use the bed as a trunk, this is handy!

Step one would be a mild drop and some sway bars. I take the canyons to work every day.

Thanks in advance for the input.

power switch for drivers seat, no manual lever , it takes a bit, sometimes i wish it had a manual lever cause i like to get behind the seat fast, i tend to use the passenger side more if i need to store something.

i average 11-12 mpg mostly city driving and i dont drive much
my stepdad puts alot more miles on his and gets 15ish

id like a divider for the bed too , for storage in the bed so like grocerys could go back there without flying around the bed.

trucks are IMO the best looking truck out there now

ive had a 12, 14 and will soon order a 15

I average around 16mpg but mine is mostly country road and highway driving.

This is my first Dodge and I absolutely love it...no regrets!

Yep, power driver seat, no manual lever. I get by though. I use the tray behind the driver seat for my straps, trailer hitch, locks, etc, stuff I don't get out much. I use the passenger side for stuff I need to get out more often like my drill, computer bag, etc.
I have had Crew Cab trucks since 2000 so I'm used to the room. This is my first reg cab since the 90's and I'm getting by just fine without the extra room.

I drive my truck daily around town for work. I do 50/50 intown highway and city driving. I got 19.2 mpgs on my trip computer yesterday over 75 miles. I have 18.4 mpgs on my computer for the tank, which is almost on empty. Its been reading over 18 mpgs per tank consistently. The computer reads a bit optimistic so when I put the calculator to it after the refill, I bet it will be around 17.5 - 17.9 mpg. I run 100% gas and 89 octane EVERY TIME, no exceptions. Which contributes to the good mpgs. Plus it just runs better. I am happy as a pig in slop with my mpgs in this truck.

There is a bed extender available from MOPAR. i am going to look into one myself. But I'm not going to pay $300 for one, I'll wait till I can find on for less.
I should have negotiated one at the signing table.

I also looked at the Tremor and even a ROUSH reg cab F150. WAAAY too expensive, plus I just cant stomach an EcoBoost. Plus the Tremor is the ONLY reg cab that comes with creature comforts that rival the R/T. The R/T looks better, performs great and is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better value than any other comparable truck. (which there is not very many comparable on the market LOL)

Thanks you guys.
Ramajama, thanks for the link to the bed extender. Cool that it comes with grocery bag hooks !

One think I forgot to mention that the Ford also does not have....Homelink garage door opener.

The local dealer is knocking a couple grand off a Tremor. Meanwhile, One of the Ram dealers is taking $9k off on a totally loaded R/T. It helps that I found the perfect truck - it has everything except the trailer towing pkg.

The molar bed extended is the AMP Research one. Literally no difference. Also, Ram was nice, if you look inside the bed on each side you'll see three holes. These are for mounting the brackets that hold the bed extender and come with it. No drilling needed. If you get the factory spray in liner they are careful not to fill these in too.

Thanks Hunter.

Know what else the Tremor does not have?? Power folding mirrors.
Jeez. I should start a list. No Outside dimming mirrors either.

Frank,

I have two mods on my 14 R/T that may play a slight role in my MPG...

1. Mufflex muffler delete Y-pipe
2. MOPAR fiberglass tonneau cover

I have close to 5K miles on my truck. I drive 90% city and 10% highway.

I drive with cruise control almost always. I do love the sound of the HEMI so, I do occasionally wake up the beast from time to time. My computed MPG on the EVIC hangs around 20. I also calculate my MPG on all my fuel ups. That MPG is usually around 18.5. The computer is a little biased on the conservative side.

Hope that helps a little on the MPG numbers you were asking about.

Greg
